Migraine & Headaches

Understanding recurring headaches, migraine patterns, triggers and warning signs.

Introduction

Headaches are common and usually harmless, but recurring or severe headaches deserve proper assessment. Migraine is a neurological condition that often involves throbbing pain, nausea and sensitivity to light or sound.

Common symptoms

  • One-sided, throbbing head pain
  • Nausea, vomiting or sensitivity to light and sound
  • Visual disturbances (aura) before the headache
  • Tension-type pressure around the head or neck
  • Headaches linked to sleep, meals or screen time

Potential causes

  • Hormonal changes and family tendency
  • Stress, poor sleep and skipped meals
  • Dehydration, bright light, strong smells
  • Certain foods or beverages
  • Neck strain, eye strain and overuse of pain-relievers

When to seek urgent medical attention

  • A sudden, severe “thunderclap” headache
  • Headache with fever, stiff neck, confusion or rash
  • Weakness, numbness, slurred speech or vision loss
  • Headache after a head injury, or a new pattern after age 50

In an emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital.

Diagnosis and conventional treatment

Diagnosis is mainly clinical, based on history and examination; scans are used when warning signs are present. Conventional management includes trigger identification, acute medicines, preventive medicines for frequent migraine and lifestyle measures such as regular sleep and hydration.

Scope and limitations of a homeopathic consultation

A homeopathic consultation with Dr. Jain is an opportunity to discuss your history, symptoms and lifestyle in an unhurried setting. Homeopathy has not been shown by reliable scientific evidence to be effective for treating migraine & headaches or any other specific medical condition. It should not replace a diagnosis, investigations or treatment from a qualified conventional doctor, and you should never stop prescribed medicines without medical advice.

What the consultation involves

You will be asked about your concern, its history, your medical background, and current medicines. Please bring recent reports. Where appropriate Dr. Jain may advise investigations or a specialist opinion, and you will discuss follow-up guidance before leaving. See the full consultation process.
