Skin Concerns

Rashes, eczema-like dryness, acne and persistent skin changes—what they may mean and when to see a doctor.

Introduction

Skin concerns range from mild, short-lived irritation to long-term conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne or fungal infections. Because many skin conditions look alike, an accurate diagnosis matters before any treatment is chosen.

Common symptoms

  • Itching, redness or dry, flaky patches
  • Bumps, blisters or pus-filled spots
  • Scaling, cracking or thickened skin
  • Changes in the colour, size or shape of a mole
  • Skin that is painful, hot or swollen

Potential causes

  • Allergens and irritants such as soaps, cosmetics, metals or fabrics
  • Genetic and immune-related tendencies (eczema, psoriasis)
  • Bacterial, fungal or viral infections
  • Hormonal changes, stress and sleep disruption
  • Heat, humidity, pollution and dry weather

When to seek urgent medical attention

  • A rash with fever, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face or lips
  • Rapidly spreading redness, pain or pus
  • A mole or sore that changes, bleeds or does not heal within a few weeks
  • Blistering skin, or a rash covering large areas of the body

In an emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital.

Diagnosis and conventional treatment

A dermatologist or physician usually diagnoses skin conditions through examination and, when needed, skin scrapings, patch tests or a biopsy. Conventional care may include moisturisers, topical or oral medicines, allergen avoidance and, for infections, antimicrobials.

Scope and limitations of a homeopathic consultation

A homeopathic consultation with Dr. Jain is an opportunity to discuss your history, symptoms and lifestyle in an unhurried setting. Homeopathy has not been shown by reliable scientific evidence to be effective for treating skin concerns or any other specific medical condition. It should not replace a diagnosis, investigations or treatment from a qualified conventional doctor, and you should never stop prescribed medicines without medical advice.

What the consultation involves

You will be asked about your concern, its history, your medical background, and current medicines. Please bring recent reports. Where appropriate Dr. Jain may advise investigations or a specialist opinion, and you will discuss follow-up guidance before leaving. See the full consultation process.
